Unlike many of my projects in the past, Indevr.co is more than a simple one-shot idea of ways for my dreams to become a reality. It’s a sum of passions and a new beginning for something larger than solely myself. That’s a tall order for a blog site about Virtual Reality, but it is my hope it is a truly realized symbiosis of all of the things that make me what I am.
A Beginning Like Any Other
Ever since the first day I started working for ‘the man’, right after I graduated college, I’ve had entrepreneurial dreams. But how can I combine my passions, skills and drive into a singular purpose? It’s not a question that can be answered with sage advise or hobo words of wisdom, and the only way to figure it out for yourself is to work at it, every single day, and hope that you can find your own answers. At some point along the way I came across this venn diagram – a representation of the concept of Ikigai. It spoke to me as a way to visualize how to use my strengths and weaknesses and a became guide to focus my work into creating something I’m passionate about. My passion is in creative technology and my profession is design and web development. How do I create a vocation that helps me with my mission – to create something that can support my passions?
What is the Meaning of it All?
Finding your ultimate purpose and making it into your job is far from easy, nor is the ability to finance yourself. There is no simple equation for how to find ways to make money, with or without passion. I’ve always experimented with figuring out the right way to move forward. At the start of my career, I made sure I had a website that represented my abilities in web development and design. I’ve partnered with friends with other passions to form indevisual.co, a creative agency.
Den-vr.co is Born
A little over a year ago I started a Virtual Reality equipment rental company – Den-vr.co. I figured it would be a good way to make some money with a small team. To add to my web development tool kit, I decided to also focus on getting the SEO – seach engine optimization – in a way that gave me proven and replication organic search results. Den-vr.co is a local business – based out of one city – and the keywords needed to optimize it were clear.
I’m happy to report that after a year of time in the space, Den-vr.co has reached the #1 spot in organic search for my top rated keywords. The terms may appear to be narrow – a local business with a niche offering – it found it’s way to the top. Reaching this goal has inspired me to find new verticals within my niche to continue along fulfilling my Ikigai. This was a means towards self-actualization for my business and my passions.
What’s the meaning of this?
The journey doesn’t end with the creation of this website. Like den-vr.co, I have set a new goal for the success of this website. That comes in the form of becoming a google and amazon affiliate.
You might ask, “Bitterjay, why are you telling me all of this? You don’t want your readers to think that you’re in it to make money and become a sell out!”
Thank you, all!
To the fans of Indevr.co (of which, as of this writing, we have zero), thank you for your passion. If we could, we would do this for free! But our goal here is to create quality content and expand into as many verticals as our writers and fans are passionate about. Indevr.co is more than just one person – team work makes the dream work, and this project could not exist without the help and support of my passionate friends!
These blog posts are meant to take our readers along with us on a journey towards self-actualization. It is the story of a group of people who wanted to genuinely work for themselves. They want to work within a community that shares their same passion.
So begins Indevr.co – a new news source for all things Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, and Augmented Reality!
What does “Indevr.co” stand for? Well, it’s pretty simple: The journey and the purpose – VR themed!
To exert oneself to do or effect something; make an effort; strive:
We must constantly endeavor if we are to succeed.
